On the European Day of Languages<\/strong>, the halls of our school were alive with color, creativity, and the sound of many tongues. The SWALS<\/strong>\u00a0primary students marked the occasion with a unique artistic project<\/strong>\u00a0inspired by the Dada art movement<\/strong>, creating a series of vibrant collages using words from newspapers and magazines in various European languages.<\/p>\n

The Dada movement, known for its playful and rebellious spirit, was the perfect inspiration for this multilingual celebration. Under the guidance of their teachers, the children learned about the history of Dada and its use of everyday materials and spontaneous composition. Embracing this approach, they set out to create seven collages\u2014each one dedicated to a different language taught at the school.<\/p>\n

The students cut out words and phrases in Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, Hungarian, and Polish, carefully arranging them into visually striking and often humorous compositions. Each collage reflected the character and sound of the language it represented, showing the students‘ appreciation for linguistic diversity in a fun and engaging way.<\/p>\n

This joyful and educational event reminded everyone of the power of languages to connect people across cultures, while also giving students a hands-on experience with art, collaboration, and international awareness.<\/p>\n
