Les mathématiques à l’honneur pour célébrer l’Europe

À l’occasion de la semaine « Europe Day and United in Diversity Week », le département de mathématiques a proposé plusieurs activités visant à mettre en lumière la richesse du patrimoine scientifique européen et la diversité culturelle qui façonne les mathématiques d’aujourd’hui.

Des élèves de S2 ont réalisé une série de posters consacrés à de grands mathématiciens européens. Des classes de S4 et S5 se sont intéressées à l’origine des symboles mathématiques que nous utilisons tous les jours afin de mettre en lumière les racines européennes (et extra-européennes) de nombreux signes.

Une belle manière de découvrir que les mathématiques se construisent à travers les siècles et les frontières.

Dans une démarche de transmission et de partage, des élèves de S2 et S3 ont animé des ateliers mathématiques dans leur langue 2 à destination d’élèves de primaire P3 ou d’autres élèves de S2

Ces initiatives illustrent parfaitement l’esprit de cette semaine : partager, apprendre les uns des autres et reconnaître la diversité comme une richesse. Les mathématiques, langage universel, se sont ainsi révélées un formidable outil de dialogue.

Mathematics in the Spotlight to Celebrate Europe

As part of the “Europe Day and United in Diversity week”, the mathematics department organized several activities highlighting the richness of Europe’s scientific heritage and the cultural diversity that shapes mathematics today.

S2 students created a series of posters dedicated to great European mathematicians. S4 and S5 classes explored the origins of the mathematical symbols we use every day, shedding light on the European (and non-European) roots of many familiar signs.

A wonderful way to discover how mathematics has been built over centuries and across borders.

In a spirit of sharing and transmission, S2 and S3 students also led maths workshops in their second language, presenting them to primary school pupils (P3) or other S2 classes.

These initiatives perfectly reflect the spirit of the week: sharing, learning from one another, and recognising diversity as a strength. Mathematics, as a universal language, proved once again to be a powerful tool for dialogue.

Mathematik im Mittelpunkt zur Feier Europas

Anlässlich der Woche „Europe Day and United in Diversity week“ hat die Fachschaft Mathematik verschiedene Aktivitäten angeboten, um den Reichtum des europäischen wissenschaftlichen Erbes und die kulturelle Vielfalt, die die Mathematik bis heute prägt, hervorzuheben.

Die Schülerinnen der S2 erstellten eine Posterreihe über bedeutende europäische Mathematikerinnen. Die Klassen S4 und S5 beschäftigten sich mit dem Ursprung mathematischer Symbole, die wir täglich verwenden, und zeigten die europäischen (und außereuropäischen) Wurzeln vieler dieser Zeichen auf.

Eine schöne Möglichkeit zu entdecken, wie sich die Mathematik über Jahrhunderte und Grenzen hinweg entwickelt hat.

Im Sinne des Teilens und Weitergebens führten Schüler und Schülerinnen der S2 und S3 Mathematik-Workshops in ihrer zweiten Sprache durch – entweder für Grundschulkinder (P3) oder für andere S2-Klassen.

Diese Initiativen spiegeln den Geist dieser besonderen Woche perfekt wider: voneinander lernen, Vielfalt als Bereicherung sehen und gemeinsam wachsen. Die Mathematik – als universelle Sprache – erwies sich dabei einmal mehr als ein starkes Instrument des Dialogs.
