Every year, the cover of the school agenda is designed by pupils during art classes.
A vote is then held to select the best project.
This year’s concept
Biophilia: Love for Nature is our guiding concept for the School Agenda Cover 2026/27. The European School Karlsruhe is located in a distinctive woodland setting — Karlsruhe as a true “city of woods” (Waldstadt). Pupils observe the nearby forests and school grounds: local flora and fauna, seasonal light, bark and leaf textures, stones, water, soil, and natural materials.
They translate these observations and their aesthetic experience — aisthesis (αἴσθησις), Ancient Greek for sensory perception — into a visual language through semiotics (the study of images and meaning): signs, symbols, patterns, colours and compositions that communicate “nature” and “growth”.
The project that received the highest number of votes was created by STETSENKO Kateryna and will become the cover of the school agenda for the 2026–2027 school year.
Second place was awarded to Suni JULIANO, Jule PAWLIK, Luciana MCKERNAN, Alessandro VACCA, and third place to Frederika RODRIGUES MUNZ, Clay RENTZ, Eleanor MOLLOY.
The works that placed second and third will also be published inside the agenda.
Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding creativity and thoughtful designs.
