For some parents, the core school hours do not align with their working schedules. To accommodate this, we offer an after-school care program that starts at the end of the last lesson and runs from Monday to Friday until 6:00 pm

The afterschool care MoMi / Nami is organised by the association MoMi-Nachmittagsbetreuung an der Europäischen Schule Karlsruhe e. V.

MoMi programme

The MoMi is available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 12:15 until 3:35 p.m

The children are supervised together in a group. Our offer includes: lunch in the canteen, free play, homework supervision and creative activities. First, the children eat together in the school canteen (either food brought from home or ordered from the canteen). Afterwards, depending on the supervisors’ programme, they enjoy playing outside or do other activities such as sport, games (card games, role play, free play and group games), crafts, singing and dancing. The pupils then do their homework under supervision. The supervisors provide the necessary calm and pleasant learning atmosphere; if they have any questions, they are happy to give tips – however, the afternoon supervision cannot and does not aim to provide tutoring, but rather to enable and support independent, orderly work.

The pupils will be cared for and supervised by qualified teaching staff or educators, in various languages, and in their own known and trusted school environment.

Nami programme

The NaMi operates Monday to Thursday from 3:35 pm until 6:00 pm, at Friday from 3:35pm until 5pm and from 5pm until 6pm. Like the MoMi, it offers a wide range of activities. Our programme includes: free play, healthy snack (fruit, vegetables etc.) and creative activities.

Absence

If a child is reported ill in the morning, it is also a valid excuse for after school care. Should a child participate in regular school lessons but not in the after school care, the supervisor needs to be informed. Please inform us if your child will not be attending MoMi/Nami by 11 a.m. on the same day or ealier by e-mail to: info@momi-nachmittagsbetreuung.eu

Timetable

For reliable planning, participation in the afternoon care programme can only be booked either for half a year or for the whole school year.

The first term of after school care usually begins on the first day of school and ends on 31 January of the following year. Care on the pedagogical day (school holidays, usually in November) is possible for MoMi/NaMi children (Kindergarten, P1 and possibly P2) from 8 am to 4 pm at no extra cost.

The second term of after school care begins on 1 February and ends on the last official school day (care for MoMi/NaMi children is also offered free of charge from 8 am to 4 pm).

On days when there are no regular lessons, afternoon care is also cancelled.

Neither MoMi nor NaMi offer remedial or tutoring lessons, but homework is completed as far as possible.

Brief Information about the NaMi Programme

Organisation

At the beginning of the school year (for approximately 4 weeks), all MoMi & NaMi children are always picked up by the supervisors in front of their classrooms. As the school year progresses, schoolchildren (grades 1 to 5) come to the respective supervision room on their own. Kindergarten children are always picked up by the supervisors in the kindergarten area. The childcare rooms can be found on the information board in Building A.

MoMi children travel home by public transport at 3.35 p.m. or are picked up.

If a MoMi child is not picked up by 3.45 p.m., they will be taken to NaMi by the teachers.

All NaMi children must be picked up by 6 p.m. at the latest!
